We have been experiencing home care duties for a close family member suffered with severe paralyzed issues in the past few years.  This patient lost his control on the movement due to a major brain stroke four years ago and his lung function required respirator system support after severe pneumonia infection three years ago.  Since then we have chained up an intensive home care activities to support this on-going event.  This web site intend to share our experience learned so far on this issue and plan to grow our understanding on this by exchanging information with interested viewers on this.

The home care routine for severe paralyzed person learned here is a non-stop 24/7 and all-year-round operation.  To cope with quality required for this operation, family members needs to establish production-like control guidelines, so called standard operation procedure (SOP) and out-of-control action plan (OCAP), to make sure consistent and suitable operation being implemented upon normal and emergency conditions, respectively.   Whoever support this intensive home care service needs to be qualified on the understanding of SOP and OCAP as well.  But how much detail of SOP and OCAP can be documented are remained an on-going learning processes since patient whose medical condition here may be too complex for traditional skilled instruction settings.

The patient condition is progressive with complexity as time goes and this is a continuous learning experience.  We need to advance our knowledge on this and come out upgraded SOP and OCAP to meet future requirements.  In addition, our regular family activity is tightly linked with this SOP and all family members need to get involved to share and experience this challenge and continuous learning journey.
